Cocoa butter is a pure, ingestible-safe vegetable fat with a pale-yellow color. Cocoa Butter is processed by fermenting, roasting and separating the cocoa beans from their hulls. Cocoa butter is most often deodorized to remove its strong taste. Cocoa butter adds scent, flavor and smoothness to chocolate products and cosmetic products.

Raw Cocoa Butter, labeled as pure cocoa butter, during the manufacturing process is not heated to high temperatures and retains more of its healthy fats and compounds found in the cocoa beans.

Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter – What’s the Difference?

Both Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter have similar uses for skin care, and many people who have used both, develop their own preference for one or the other. Both can be used on sensitive skin, and both are hydrating.

The main differences  are how they can each be used, and how they smell.

Cocoa Butter has a tropical scent, while Shea Butter has a very mild fragrance.

Shea Butter can only be used topically, while Cocoa Butter is used to cook with and can be ingested.

Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter – What’s the Difference?
