Did You Know?

Homemade body butters are definitely multi tasking. Here’s just a few uses … be sure to warm butter between your palms before application … helps to slide on smoothly and sink into your skin in a snap.

Hand and Feet
Just a small dab will do on your hands.
Apply to cleansed feet at night, wear cotton socks to bed for an overnight treatment. Do this a couple of times per week to keep skin soft and supple.

Dry Patches
Apply to elbows, heels, knees, anywhere you have dry patches of skin. Massage in thoroughly until absorbed.

After washing or soaking hands in warm water, massage a small amount into each cuticle.

Décolletage and Neck
Gently massage in upward strokes, repeat every other day.

Lip Balm
Apply gently with pinky or center finger. Peppermint will stimulate a little puff in your lips, and the coconut oil will moisturize and keep lips from chapping in cold weather.

Legs, Arm, Back Massage
Massage gently in small circular motion until absorbed into skin.

Peppermint Coconut Body Butter Recipe

1 cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
4-6 drops of peppermint essential oil (or your preferred scent)

note: Do Not melt coconut oil before mixing all ingredients, as it has to be solid in order to whip up for this recipe.

Do Not mix in a food processor, as you can’t control the speed and a blender/food processor won’t allow for air that ultimately produces the whipping.

Place all ingredients (except for the essential oil) into a glass mixing bowl.

Using a handheld mixer – whip on high speed for apx 7-8 minutes. You want to whip until the overall texture is airy and light, not dense and heavy.

Using a spatula, place the whipped mixture into glass jars and to seal tightly.

Store at a room temperature.

If your home is unusually warm, you may want to store in a cool space.

If the whipped butter becomes too soft, you can store in the fridge, and remove each morning before use.
